Frederick T. Heller graduated with a Doctorate in
Optometry from Ohio State University in 1970. He became a Fellow of
the American Academy of Optometry in 1989. Dr. Heller is presently
the Treasurer of the Middlesex District of the Mass Society of
Optometrists. He has been a resident of Wilmington for 25 years and
practicing Optometry in Wilmington since 1973. Dr. Heller’s office
provides a full scope of optometric services including contact
lenses, glasses, treatment of eye infections and co-management of
laser refractive surgery and cataract surgery.
Dr. Heller was born and raised in New Jersey. After graduation from
Ohio State in 1970 , he worked as an Optometrist in the flight
surgeons office at Otis Air Force Base with the rank of Captain. The
assignment at Otis is what brought the Heller family to New England.
The Wilmington practice was started in 1954 by Dr. Erwin Chernoff
and purchased by Dr. Heller in 1976.
